The Problem

Design is not just about creating an aesthetic and functional end product - it’s also about learning how to couple technical skill with design knowledge. (No one wants the engineers mad at them.)

As someone who’s interested in designing digital products, it is crucial to have at least a basic understanding of what goes into executing the final design. Thus, “Favorites” became my introductory project into the realm of programming.

Design: Final Iteration

Designing and coding a website from scratch was difficult. Much more difficult than I imagined when I first opened VS Code and sketched out initial designs, thinking that the resources and information I needed would be at my fingertips. I felt that this challenged me in different ways than I’m used, especially in terms of technical skill. I am thankful to have practiced with these foundational coding languages, as it allows me to better understand the fundamentals of designing on the web.
